What changes the price

Soil preparation, plant sizes and how much is taken away move a landscaping quote more than most people expect. Write down each business's answer on those and the totals start to make sense.

Access matters too. If a small machine cannot get through the side gate, more is done by hand, and that takes longer.

Before the first visit

Note where the sun falls through the day, where water sits after rain, and which parts of the garden you use most. A landscaper will ask, and the answers shape the design.

Gather a few photos of gardens you like, and know roughly what you want to spend, so the design starts in the right place.
